I sat dumbfounded in my classroom as I stared down at my midterm with a knot in my stomach so tight I thought I was going to hurl. I was in my third year of an electrical engineering program and for those who might not know engineering isn’t something easy. I struggled a lot through my courses but barely made it by the skin of my teeth but with each year the course load got harder and finally, I wasn’t able to just cut it in my thermodynamics class. It’s not that I’m lazy or a party animal but this course load was insane and I just couldn’t keep it up anymore. My eyes were locked onto the “30%” written on the front of my midterm, this midterm was worth half my grade and I knew there was next to no way I would recover from this. Maybe through dumb luck and a hell of a lot of studying I could ace the exam but that was a long shot. If I failed this I honestly wasn’t sure if my GPA could take it and if I dipped too low then these past few years would have been for nothing.
